This summer, as part of our Biennial season, we are celebrating all things craft. Throughout August, join us for a series of weekends dedicated to making, music and merriment, with demonstrations, workshops, BBQ, pop-up bar and a live DJ set.

Over the weekend we will have a delicious BBQ and pop-up bar each day in the Courtyard. Alongside this we will also be joined by Luigi’s Italian Street Food, bringing his Artisan Pizzas to Harewood.

DROP-IN WORKSHOPS + DEMOS

Do Nothing Machine
Sat 24, Sun 25 + Mon 26 Aug | 10am–5pm | Suitable for all ages | The Courtyard
Nik Ramage, Jim Bond and Martin Smith return to Harewood this year with an exciting community project installed for ‘Make It’ Harewood. With the help of Make It festival visitors of all ages, they will create a large Do Nothing Machine over the course of the weekend, join us throughout the weekend and see how it grows!

Ellie Way: Screen Printing Demonstration
Sat 24 + Sun 25 Aug | 11am–3pm | Suitable for all ages| Courtyard Overflow Café
Join Wakefield-based designer and printmaker, Ellie Way as she demonstrates the process of screen-printing a Harewood inspired poster. Onlookers can try their hand at screenprinting or simply enjoy this satisfying process.

CRAFT WORKSHOPS

Model Making Workshop with Jim Parkyn

Suitable for ages 4+ | Education Suite
Ticket Price: £15 per person*
Join sculptor, model maker and character designer Jim Parkyn for a special model making workshop where you can make your very own Harewood creature! With over 25 years in the animation industry, Jim has been involved in many best loved animations for Aardman Animations, the BBC and many other clients. Suitable for all the family, all workshop participants will follow Jim Parkyn through a step-by-step demonstration as you craft your very own model some of Harewood’s most well known wildlife creatures!

WALKS + TALKS

Create/Elevate: Objects in Focus
Sat 24, Sun 25 + Mon 26 Aug | 11am + 2pm | Entrance Hall of House
Join our knowledgeable House Team for a free talk about Create/Elevate, the 2024 Harewood Biennial exhibition. Our free talks will focus on different objects and artworks which feature in the exhibition, across the State Floor and Below Stairs of the House.

Make your way to the Entrance Hall ahead of the start time, to find out where talk will be each day. No booking is required.

AFTER HOURS

Create/Elevate: Twilight Tour
Sat 24 August | 6.30+7.15pm | Harewood House
Ticket price: £40
We invite you to join us for an exclusive after hours tour of the 2024 Harewood Biennial, Create/Elevate throughout the rooms of Harewood House. Your journey begins in the Entrance Hall with a chilled glass of fizz and welcome talk from Harewood’s talented House Team. Listen in close as you find out all about the concept behind this year’s Biennial exhibition, featuring 16 different artists and collectives from across the globe, before taking a walk around the House to see the indoor exhibits.
