Jane Austen played the piano and sang throughout her life, building a treasured collection of sheet music that gives us a glimpse into the soundtrack of her world.

A rare example of her manuscript music features in Austen and Turner: A Country House Encounter, now on display at Harewood.

Join pianist Laura Klein and singer Gillian Dooley for a morning of music drawn directly from Austen’s own collection. From charming folk songs and elegant arias to playful French theatre tunes, the programme includes music she loved as a child and shared with her family into adulthood. Among the highlights is No Riches from his Scanty Store, a tender song remembered by her niece and now part of the exhibition.

Step into Austen’s musical world and experience the sounds that once filled the drawing rooms of Georgian England.
