Did you know the first ever photograph took 8 hours to expose? The oldest known photograph is from 1826 by french photographer Nicéphore Niépce.
Join our Collections Care Team to discover more fascinating photography facts and explore the history of the camera through a selection of historic images.
During this engaging talk, visitors will meet a member of the team in the Entrance Hall, who will share expert advice on how to care for and preserve photographs at home, from family albums to treasured prints. You’ll also have the opportunity to view historic photographs up close and learn how museums protect these delicate records of the past for future generations.
