This Axminster carpet was designed by Robert Adam for the Music Room at Harewood House.
It has a predominantly pink and green colour scheme and a pattern that centres on a fan medallion and radiating lyres.
As in many rooms designed by Robert Adam, the design of the carpet echoes the decorative plasterwork of the ceiling above.
It is one of only a handful of 18th century Axminster carpets across Britain that remain in the rooms for which they were made.
