Join Harewood’s Garden Team for a special talk celebrating the captivating Himalayan blue poppy.
Often known by this popular garden name, these striking blue blooms are part of the diverse Meconopsis genus, which spans the Sino-Himalayan region and includes species in shades of yellow, pink, white and red, each adapted to a range of mountain habitats.
During the talk, you’ll discover the story of ‘Lingholm’, one of the most reliable perennial blue poppies grown today, first identified at Lingholm Gardens near Keswick, as well as other beautiful but more challenging varieties flourishing in the Himalayan Garden.
With a long history at Harewood, where blue poppies were once cultivated for HRH Princess Mary, these remarkable plants remain emblematic of the Himalaya, with one species even honoured as Bhutan’s national flower.
Come along to learn, be inspired, and see these iconic blooms in their garden setting.
