We are seeking to appoint an experienced Access Consultant to support Reimagining Harewood and help ensure that accessibility, inclusion and equality are embedded in the project from the outset. Harewood House Trust has been awarded a National Lottery Heritage Fund Development grant for the realisation of this project.   

Reimagining Harewood will ‘heal the landscape’, reestablishing the connection between the House and other important historic buildings and landscape features, creating a beautiful and biodiverse landscape where people can enjoy historic views and gain a better understanding of the site’s history. Key to this will be giving a Grade II listed building (the Bakehouse) a new lease of life as a Visitor Centre. This will be the centre of every visit, providing accessible facilities, welcoming and orientating visitors and providing a sense of place by sharing the complex history of the site. 

The appointed consultant will work closely with the project team to develop an access strategy that will be closely aligned with our plans and activities, advise on best practice, identify barriers to participation, and provide practical recommendations to improve access for a wide range of users, including disabled people, neurodivergent people, older people, families and visitors with sensory, physical or cognitive access needs. 

We welcome proposals from suitably qualified individuals, organisations or consultancy teams with demonstrable experience of inclusive design, consultation with people with lived experience, and working collaboratively with project teams.
