We are looking for an experienced and passionate Food and Beverage Manager to lead on shaping and providing day-to-day management of our catering offering at Harewood.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

As Food and Beverage Manager, the post holder will oversee the day to day operations of our cafes, concessions and events, ensuring smooth service and outstanding visitor experience. The post holder will lead and motivate the F&B team through effective recruitment, training and development, while working closely with the kitchen team to develop menus, promotions and service standards.

The Food and Beverage Manager will work closely with all teams across Harewood HouseTrust and Harewood Trading Ltd, while also building connections across the wider Harewood Estate.

The role will include managing budgets, controlling costs, and negotiating with suppliers to maximise profitability without compromising on quality. The post holder will monitor visitor feedback, resolve any issues promptly and ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and licencing regulations. In addition, you will analyse sales performance, prepare management reports, and implement strategies to drive revenue, efficiency and customer loyalty, all while maintaining the highest standards of service and professionalism.

KEY RESULTS AREAS 

People Management and Leadership 

  • Line Management of Kitchen Manager and Assistant F&B Manager
  • Plan and oversee all food and beverage operations across day to day catering and events.
  • Recruit, train and develop food and beverage staff, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
  • Ensure excellent customer service by monitoring guest satisfaction and addressing complaints promptly.
  • Analyse industry trends, market conditions and competitor performance to improve operations.
  • Work closely with other departments are Harewood, such as kitchen, events & marketing to deliver a seamless experience.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with third party stakeholders and ensure Harewood is always represented in a professional manner.
  • Ensure staff paperwork, including rotas and payroll are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Communicate with all staff effectively to ensure that new information is disseminated.
  • Be accountable for self-development, seek out new opportunities and learn new skills.
  • Play an important part in promoting Harewood’s vision and objectives.

Operations 

  • Lead on the development and delivery of the catering vision and ensure financial targets are met. 
  • Source high-quality regional suppliers of food and drink and ensure provenance is at the heart of everything we offer. 
  • Ensure stock is carefully managed to ensure consistency and availability of our offer. 
  • Enforce compliance with health, safety, hygiene and licensing regulations.
  • Lead on annual stock takes and quarterly stock checks -Ensuring that stock is carefully recorded and minimal stock is lost. 
  • Create and implement procedures and help streamline processes and raise standards. 
  • Alongside the Kitchen Manager, you will drive + develop menus for cafes, concessions, events and groups thereby maximising sales potential. 
  • Deal with all feedback efficiently and ensure steps are taken to improve any recurring negative feedback. 
  • Ensure that each catering area is looking its best on a daily basis, with staff and environment well presented, packaging available and POS clearly displayed and within brand guidelines. 
  • Assist in using EPOS and other sources to inform repeat order quantities to maximise sales and profitability 

Finance 

  • Work with the Head of Commercial + Visitor Experience to set catering budgets in order to drive business forward and ensure staff are motivated by their targets. 
  • Analyse sales in order to control, manage and minimise all costs efficiently. 
  • Monitor and review monthly accounts and forecasts to ensure appropriate action is taken to achieve targets and improve business performance.

Special Conditions 

Occasional evenings and regular weekend and bank holiday working will be required. Due to the nature of the business, limited annual leave can be taken in busy periods, such as summer holidays and Christmas. The post holder will be required to hold a Personal Licence for the sale of alcohol.
