Important info
Access to the House by Wheelchair Users
We have two stairlifts to assist visitors to access the State Floor and Below Stairs. There is access to the State Floor for electric wheelchair users with a combined weight of under 300kg.
There is access to the State Floor for small mobility scooter users with a combined weight of under 300kg and with dimensions of less than 50 inches in length.
However, due to narrow corridors and restricted turning circles, where possible, we would ask guests to transfer to a manual wheelchair (that we can provide). There are chairs provided for visitors to sit down in most State Floor rooms.
If our team consider a mobility scooter or wheelchair too large to safely navigate the State Floor walkways, we maintain the right to deny entry to the House.
There is a maximum combined weight limit capacity of 300kg.
Please note – we are a cashless site.
Please note: the Chain Ferry is currently only in operation on the weekends.

Promotions & Discounts
As an educational charity, we have to be mindful of the rising costs of running Harewood, and we set prices carefully to ensure that we can offer an enjoyable day out for our Members and visitors, and keep Harewood open for all to enjoy. That said, we also want to make sure everyone can join the fun, so here are some ways to make your visit even more accessible:
Emmerdale Village Tour
Over the years Harewood has played host to a number of well-known film and TV productions, from documentaries and soaps, to period dramas and the glamour of the big screen. Emmerdale Village, as it is today, was purpose-built in the grounds of Harewood estate in 1997 after the programme’s former location of Esholt became so popular with visitors that filming scenes became impossible!
Harewood Holidays
Stay in Harewood Estate
Extend your visit to Harewood with a stay at Harewood Holidays.
Every Harewood Holiday cottage has it's own unique history. From worker cottages to ancient hunting lodges, each of these Grade II listed buildings ooze character and offer you the chance to get closer to nature.
