A pair of large blue baluster Chinese Porcelain vases in the English style with a semi-translucent celadon glaze. The vases are decorated with white slip, a potter's clay which is put over the surface of the vase in order to create a difference in colour to the rest of the object. Sometimes a trailing method is used to create patterns such as the dragons and foliage seen is these vases. The necks of these Chinese porcelain vases are ormolo mounted with two snakes, one on either side. Although the vases originate from the Qianlong period (1736- 1795), the mounts are dated to 1809.
