There’s a whole world of tiny wonders waiting to be discovered in the meadows of Harewood and this summer, you can join the adventure.

Our complimentary Minibeast Safari workshops run every Monday at 11am and 1pm throughout this summer holiday, inviting families to step into the role of budding entomologists and explore the fascinating life beneath the grass and among the flowers.

Armed with butterfly nets, observation pots and field identification guides, participants set out across beautiful Sun Sides to spot, catch and study insects up close. From the delicate butterflies to beautiful beetles, each find offers a new insight into the miniature wildlife that helps keep our countryside thriving. Every creature is carefully released back into its habitat, ensuring the meadow’s residents remain undisturbed.

The insects we encounter tell us a great deal about the health of our landscape. Certain species are only found where the environment is rich, diverse and well-managed; others can indicate changes in soil quality, plant variety, or water purity. By recording what we find, we build a picture of how Harewood’s meadows are thriving and where conservation work can have the most impact. In this way, every net sweep and every tiny winged discovery helps us better understand and protect the ecosystem we all share.

A huge thank you to everyone who’ve joined us so far. Your curiosity, care and enthusiasm make the Minibeast Safari Walks such a pleasure to run. We hope you leave with a new appreciation for the small but mighty creatures that call Harewood home and we look forward to welcoming you on your next wildlife adventure.
