This small, elegant room was originally conceived as a study, designed to accompany the library next door. Today, the room is often used to display porcelain.

The room’s plasterwork decoration was directly inspired by the architecture of ancient Rome.

The ceiling is designed after a soffit from a Roman temple in Palmyra, Syria, and the frieze above the fireplace depicts the Aldobrandini Marriage, a fresco (wall painting) from a Roman villa rediscovered in the Renaissance.
