Take the chance to improve your digital photography skills with proffessional photographer Steve Rayner. This course of workshops will explore different ways of interpreting a different theme each week.
Steve Rayner is a photographer, lecturer and workshop leader with over 30 years experience. He has been involved in and learning about digital photography since the late 1980's and likes to emphasise the hands-on approach rather than theory.
Are your ideas great but your pictures not so great? Chances are you just need to get to know your digital camera a little better. By learning some essential camera skills you could be taking the pictures you want - rather than giving up in the frustration. With the emphasis on learning by practical experience and experiment, you will gain a working knowledge of some of those mysterious knobs, buttons and menus - and most importantly you'll be in control, rather than the camera. You will also get a handy reference guide to the most important things you need to know, to take away and refer to.

Great landscape photographs don't just happen - thay are made. Learn and practice the key elements of light, composition and colour that will bring your pictures to life, in a friendly and supportive environment. Even if you've got a relatively simple camera, just knowing and being familiar with a few simple concepts will put you in the driver's seat. If you're still unfamiliar with some of your camera controls, you will learn which to use for the best effects. A basic reference guide will be included.

More photographs of people are taken than of any other subject - yet most photographers still lack the confidence and skill to make a really good portrait. The basics are not difficult to learn, and with hands-on guidance and easy to understand practical exercises you will get more certainty about how to photograph people both indoors and outdoors, including controlling light, camera settings and posing. Our studio will again be the buildings and grounds of Harewood, offering tremendous scope for trying new ideas.

Great ideas come first - but they only turn into pictures if you're very lucky OR you have control of your camera equipment. This session will help you to take the luck out of your photography, and put the control in - so you can be much more confident of getting the results you want. Also we will be looking at ways of using photography and effects of light to make interesting and unusual images.
