Yorkshire School of Garden Design – Autumn/Winter short courses

Tuesday 1 November 2022 – Tuesday 7 March 2023

This Autumn/Winter join the newly founded Yorkshire School of Garden Design for their insightful programme of expertly curated short courses, courtesy of renowned garden designer, Alistair Baldwin, and taking place at Harewood House.

Up until Spring ’23, where more courses are available, garden enthusiasts of varying proficiencies can expand their knowledge and skills with a range subjects. From ‘An Introduction to Garden Design’ to ‘Designing and Delivering a Show Garden’ and ‘Sketchup for Garden Designers’ to ‘An Introduction to Lumion for Garden Designers’, all taught by successful professionals within the field.

Designing and Delivering a Show Garden

DATE – TIME 1st and 8th of November 2022 10am to 4pm

YSGD are a springboard into the professional world of garden design and will be bringing together RHS Chelsea Flower Show medal-winning designers, contractors and nurseries for two days of discussion and workshops aimed at those who are considering creating a show garden. Interviews with experts, connections and sponsors and all sorts of hints and tips on getting your design accepted and built. This is a fun and informative couple of days with those of invaluable knowledge in the field. This promises to be a popular and rewarding course, so please book early.

Sketchup for Garden Designers

DATE – TIME 17th, 24th and 31st of January 2023 10am – 4pm

SketchUp and SketchUp Pro are stalwart essentials in the garden designers toolkit, as superb media for both exploring and presenting design concepts. This three-day course, delivered by the Yorkshire School of Garden design, explores the best tools and functions within Sketchup and Sketchup Pro for developing ideas and presenting finished designs. The course also gives an introduction to various software programmes for rendering SketchUp models to give additional texture and life to your model. This course is a good stepping stone onto ‘Lumion for Garden Designers’ which shows designers how to take their 3D visualisations to a whole new level.
