Group Visits FAQs

What is the minimum group size?

We offer discounted group entry rates for parties of 12 or more adults. We can accommodate groups smaller than 12 but the discounted rates would not be applicable. 

Do you offer free places?

We provide free entry for coach drivers and group organisers. Coach drivers also receive a free refreshment voucher for use in our Courtyard Café.

Can I book a guided tour around the House and Gardens?

We currently have tours available across the House and Gardens, there’s something for every group to enjoy. Please note House tours are not available during the festive season.

How can I pay for my group visit? And when is it due?

We encourage payment in advance of your visit as this will enable us to process your group immediately on arrival. We understand this can not always be achieved and can accept payment on the day. Payment can be in the form of cash, card, cheque or invoice.

For all bookings where catering or guided tours are booked, we require confirmation of final numbers and  full payment for this element of your booking at least 2 weeks prior to your visit. 

For catering, we also require confirmation of any dietary requirements at this time. 

Do you offer catering options?

We can offer a variety of pre-arranged catering options for groups of 15 or more.

If you do not wish to arrange catering, we do have several catering facilities on site. Please note that tables cannot be reserved within these spaces.

What is included within a group visit?

Group admission includes access to the House, Grounds and Gardens.

Please note that the house will be closed for short periods throughout the year, to install our varied exhibition programme.

Can we amend our group numbers once booked?

We encourage payment in advance of your visit as this will enable us to process your group immediately on arrival. Invoicing available by prior arrangement.

What is your cancellation policy?

We request that you inform us of any cancellations in advance via email or on 0113 218 1000. 

Do you offer free places for Blue Badge Guides?

When accompanying a group/client to Harewood, free entry will be given to Blue Badge Guides upon presentation of a valid ID Badge.

Blue Badge Guides are welcome to visit Harewood House for a pre-visit recce if accompanying a group at a later date. If this is the case, they will need to contact groups@harewood.org with their preferred visit date and we will issue a complimentary ticket in advance.

Pre- visit access will need to be pre-arranged, and free entry will not be given at the entrance on the day without notice.

Blue Badge guides are not permitted to conduct their own tours within the House, if their group wishes to have a tour of the house, Blue Badge guides can pre-book a Harewood Tour Guide for a set fee. A minimum of two weeks’ notice is required to organise a Harewood Guide.

Fee to hire a Harewood Tour Guide – £50 for up to 12 people.

Is there coach parking nearby? And is there a cost?

We offer free coach parking, located at the top of our  main car park. Coaches we will be advised directions upon arrival.

Will our group receive a welcome on arrival?

All groups arriving by coach will be met by a member of the group bookings team.

Do you offer mobility scooters or wheelchairs?

We are unable to provide mobility scooters , however wheelchairs can be hired from the House or Visitor Information in the Courtyard. There are five wheelchairs available to hire daily.

How long do you recommend for a group visit?

We recommend 3+ hours for self-guided group visits, this includes our House, Grounds and Gardens. 

Allow extra time if pre-booking extras such as catering or tours.

What size of coach can fit through your arch entryway?

Please see below:

Shortest width = 3.23m

Lowest height = 5.7m

 

Any vehicle within these numbers will be able to travel through our entrance.

How long can we stay once we have arrived?

Once onsite groups are welcome to stay until site closure.

Closing hours can vary throughout the year, we recommend checking our website before your visit.

Maps will be given to all groups upon arrival which include site timings. 

Can we arrive by car?

Although we strongly advise arriving by coach, we understand this is not always possible. Due to the nature of our ticket barrier, those groups choosing to arrive by car will need to make payment in advance.

Please make sure to email groups@harewood.org with a full list of names and registrations.

Can we take photographs while onsite?

Photography is permitted across the site but please no flash whilst you are inside the House itself. This is for conservation reasons and helps us protect our wonderful collections. Filming is also not permitted while in the House

What is the arrival process for my group?

On arrival we request that you pause at the Visitor Reception ticket barriers, located a short way down the main drive from the A61. Pull over to the left-hand booth to make yourself known to our staff who will be expecting you. 

At this point you can make any remaining payments and will be given maps for your group.
