Family Fun in the Holidays

Harewood is a brilliant family day out! Here are our top picks for the holidays.

Meet the animals in the Bird Garden + Farm Experience
The exotic birds and furry residents of Harewood are always glad to meet our visitors! If you’re lucky you might meet the flamingo chicks who will soon be joining the flamingo flock in the Lake. Join us at 12pm for the farm feed and 3.30pm for the penguin feed and the team will be happy to answer your questions.

Get crafty in the Curiosity Cabin
Check on the door for each day’s hands-on sessions, which will inspire little minds to think about the nature around them. On Sunday 3, 10 + 17 April we’ve also got some brilliant Holiday Workshops with song, dance, and hands-on activities for early years.

Jump on the safari bus for a Family Tractor Wildlife Tour
Brand new for 2022, join the Harewood Estate team for an hour-long trip aboard our safari bus. See native wildlife, rare breed cattle, and hear about the great work the Estate are doing for sustainability and conservation. Tours are on 11 + 12 April. Find out more >>

Race to and through the Woodland Wonderland
If the kids aren’t tired by a run across the North Front, the willow maze in the Woodland Wonderland should do the trick. Luckily the Snack Hut by the woodland can supply hot drinks and snacks to revive the grown ups!

Discover the Himalayan Garden and Walled Garden
The accessible stroll around the Lakeside is something the whole family will enjoy. Half-way round, descend into the Himalayan Garden for beautiful planting, stepping stones and our unique Buddhist Stupa; then carry on to Bothy Green to find the beloved Walled Garden, with the Bothy Teahouse nearby for refreshment. In fine weather, take a trip back across the Lake on the Chain Ferry!

Explore Radical Acts
Our new exhibition of craft will get everyone talking about sustainability, repair, and the importance of treasuring what we have. Find exhibits in the House, among our stunning Georgian interiors; and discover the outdoor exhibits too, such as an installation in the North Front woodland that kids will really love! … plus 120 acres of beautiful grounds, our huge Adventure Playground, delicious locally-sourced food and drink… there’s so much to discover at Harewood!
