An intriguing, south facing border backed by a 15ft high, sandstone wall directly below the award winning Italianate Terrace at the historic Harewood House originally used for archery practice. This border is over 100m long and 5m wide. The border contains a rich mixture of Mediterranean and tropical plants which are over-wintered in glass houses and planted in the summer months to provide a framework of architectural plants through which is woven a rich tapestry of hot colours.

Plants include bananas, angel’s trumpets, plantains, bamboos, gingers, bottle brush, yuccas, trees of heaven, foxgloves trees, figs, pineapple lilies, Mexican sunflowers and magnolias.

This is a superb, late summer border with views across open “Capability” Brown landscape.
