Sunday 2 June 2024
10.30am – 4pm

A relaxing day learning how to use pastel pencils to draw a silk moth with professional wildlife artist Emily Rose. This is a brilliant course for beginners and you’ll leave with a study that looks ready to fly off the page!
Emily will teach in short demonstrations followed by one to one help throughout the day. The drawing is broken down into steps to make this workshop easy to follow and beginner friendly. You will have a reference photo to work with and Emily’s demonstration piece for added guidance. This workshop also allows time to go through some essential techniques for pastel pencils that will make using them far easier! You’ll have time to practice blending, glazing and fur work, all techniques that can be used for many other wildlife subjects.
What are pastel pencils?
Pastel pencils are a dry medium that is far less messy than their close cousin, the pastel block. Pastel pencils can produce wonderfully realistic results because they are soft and can emulate the textures of fur perfectly. Emily will take you through all of the materials in this workshop and show you how best to use them and sharpen them.
