There is plenty to do for kids of all ages, this Make It Harewood Weekend!

From model making with Aardman’s Jim Parkyn, to drawing and print making workshops with Ranya Abdulateef, we’ve got something to keep the whole family engaged, no matter what age they are.

FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN AND ALL AGES

+   MODEL MAKING WITH AARDMAN STUDIO
Join Jim Parkyn for a model making workshop and make your very own much loved Aardman character.

Join Artist Ranya Abdulateef in a workshop fun for all the family, where you can create your own layers of repeated prints with rolls.

+   COMMUNAL DO NOTHING MACHINE BUILD PROJECT
Nik Ramage, Jim Bond and Martin Smith return to Harewood House with an exciting new community project specially commissioned for the ‘Make It’ festival. With the help of Make It festival visitors of all ages, they will create a large Do Nothing Machine over the course of the weekend.

FOR CHILDREN

+  ISLAMIC GEOMETRIC PATTERNS WORKSHOP WITH RANYA ABDULATEEF
Work with artist Ranya Abdulateef to explore drawing with a focus on Islamic geometric patterns. You’ll learn and produce your own patterns using Ranya’s techniques and examples.

Join Robin Wood, one of our Radical Acts exhibitors, for a drop in taster session and demonstration on the art of wood carving.

Suitable for ages 8+

+   INTRODUCTION TO CROCHET WITH KATE BRITTAIN
An introduction to crochet for absolute beginners. We will cover the basics of setting up a row, single, double and treble crochet stitches. You’ll leave the class feeling able to continue and to develop your new skills further at home.

An introduction to Granny squares – for those with basic crochet skills. The Granny square is a mainstay of many crochet projects over time, it is highly versatile and is a great way to use up leftover yarn.

FOR TEENAGERS

+   WIRE FLOWERS WORKSHOP WITH HELAINA SHARPLEY
Learn how to hand shape and form wire to create a variety of types of flowers and foliage.  Using tools and objects to form the wire around and learning techniques of how to join the wire, each student will take home a small bouquet of wire flowers.
