Thursday 6 March 2025
11am – 2pm
Head Gardener Trevor has been looking after Harewood’s horticultural collections and landscape for 30 years.
As part of this year’s celebrations to mark his 30 glorious years at Harewood, we invite you to join Trevor for a very special event, set amidst the stunning gardens and
landscape scenery of Harewood.
Trevor will share his knowledge and passion during a fascinating illustrated talk about the gardens, plant collections and landscape, with a special focus on Harewood’s wonderful Himalayan Garden. This is a rare opportunity to deep-dive behind-the-scenes and become immersed in the history of the gardens and learn about the creation and dedicated care of one of Harewood’s best-loved green spaces.
An exclusive not-to-be-missed treat for any garden enthusiast.
You will then join Trevor for a gentle walk along the lakeside path to see the Himalayan Garden and visit the Harewood Stupa before heading back to the House for a delicious lunch, taking in the Terrace and views of the magnificent ‘Capability’ Brown landscape along the way.
Trevor Nicholson, Harewood House Trust Head Gardener recommendation:
“A visit to the Himalayan Garden is a magical experience at any time of the year, but is especially colourful in spring to early summer, when the garden is illuminated by thousands of Rhododendron blooms, and the glades are adorned with carpets of Primulas, flowering in successional flushes of purple, pink, orange and yellow.
The garden is a wonderful spectacle again from early autumn, when trees and shrubs, as well as a host of herbaceous plants are vividly painted with tints of yellow, bronze and red; pink, purple, and green.”
The experience will last approximately three hours and include a hot lunch in the House.
The rest of Harewood’s Gardens and Grounds will be closed to the public on this date, so please note that you will need to leave the site directly after the tour.
