Twinkl Teach Event

Thursday 27 April 2017
4pm – 7pm

This April we are excited to be working with Twinkl to bring you a special Twinkl Teach Event, exclusively for teachers. Explore the House after hours, take a tour of the Bird Garden and Farm, and see just what Harewood has to offer for schools. In additiona, we are delighted to be joined by Pobble.com, for a special creative writing workshop on making writing exciting!

What is included within the event?

Join us from 4pm for an after-hours look around Harewood House. Teachers will have the opportunity to explore the grandeur of the State Floor rooms, full of Renaissance masterpieces, fine Chippendale furniture, and magnificent interiors by Robert Adam. Discover just how special a school trip to Harewood can be and the variety of topics that can be covered within the House, from the reign of Queen Victoria, the architectural influence of classical Greece and Rome, to patterns, shapes and symmetry and the Great Masters paintings, we invite you to come and explore Harewood for yourself. Included within this visit to the House, teachers can see our brand new exhibitions and displays all focussed around the Victorian era at Harewood, before heading down to the Courtyard for refreshments at 5pm.

At 5.15pm Twinkl will be joined by Pobble.com. During this workshop Simon the co-founder will share with you a range of brilliant free resources and ideas which teachers can use and access immediately to impact on writing in schools. They will also share how Pobble publishes, shares and celebrates childrens writing with the world on a safe and secure platform.

Part of this event will include a free tour around Harewood’s Bird Garden and Farm Experience, giving teachers the opportunity to see just what Harewood has to offer for visiting school groups. Meet the sun-loving Humboldt Penguins, learn how the snowy owl adapts to its wintery habitats, discover just why flamingos are pink, and find out more about the four legged friends in the Farm.

Useful information

All attendees will receive a CPD certificate, and some goodies and resources from both Twinkl and Harewood.

Free parking is available on site. Please park in the main car park. Teachers can explore the State Rooms of the House from 4pm, or join us from 5pm in the Courtyard for refreshments, our keynote speaker Pobble, and tours of the Bird Garden and Farm Experience.
