Join Harewood House and Harewood Holistics for a tranquil evening of meditation and restorative yoga at the heart of the Harewood Estate. This special event is inspired by the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan.

Harewood’s Himalayan Garden is a haven of beauty and tranquillity at the heart of the Harewood Estate. The garden is home to the Harewood Stupa, a Buddhist monument built in 2004 by monks from the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. Bhutan is known as the Kingdom of Happiness and is well-known for its philosophy of Gross National Happiness, split into 9 domains including psychological well-being and health to measure the collective happiness and well-being of the population.

Inspired by our stupa and its spiritual home, this evening retreat offers nurturing meditation and restorative yoga practices to support your psychological wellbeing and help bring you to a state of calm and tranquillity.

Itinerary for the day

We will end our evening with 90 minutes of restorative yoga to bring mind, body and spirit to a state of absolute tranquillity.

What's included?

Lakeside Yoga

Enjoy practicing Yoga alongside the picturesque Harewood Lake.

Guided walk to the Harewood Stupa and through the Himalayan Gardens
This mindful walk will take you through the Himalayan Garden where you can see blue poppies, orchids, cobra lilies, primulas and over 50 types of rhododendrons. The gardens are a beautiful place to pause and breathe with the sound of the waterfall helping to relax and calm minds.

The Himalayan Stupa was built by monks from Bhutan in 2004 and is the only one of its kind in the UK. Here you will have the opportunity to leave an offering of something you have found along the walk such as a fallen leaf or a flower. This Buddhist tradition helps us to reflect on life’s impermanence and helps to calm the mind.

Warming Refreshments

Enjoy a warming herbal tea and a healthy energy snack from Harewood Food and Drink Project.

Restorative Yoga

We will end our evening with 90 minutes of restorative yoga to bring mind, body and spirit to a state of absolute tranquillity.

What do I need to bring?

We will be using essential oils, sage and incense during the session.
