Thursday 15 – Thursday 22 July 2021
6pm – 8pm
Harewood Bird Garden is currently home to nine different species of Himalayan birds, mainly found around the regions of Nepal and Bhutan. The species do well in the climate at Harewood, as it closely represents their natural habitat.
Due to this similarity, there are many birds that live wild in the woodlands and on the lake at Harewood, that you would also see in the Himalayas. During this tour, we will visit the rare and often threatened Himalayan residents of the Bird Garden and learn about the care that they receive from their keeper, but also the wider protection that they need in regard to their conservation.
We will then head to the Boat House roof, followed by a lakeside walk to the Himalayan Garden to look out for the wildlife that we have in common with Nepal, Bhutan and Southern regions of China
