Saturday 25 May – Sunday 2 June 2019

Join us for a week of family fun this May Half Term. There’s plenty to enjoy outside from the Adventure Playground across to the picnic area outside the Walled Garden and maybe a short cruise on the Lake aboard The Capability.

What's on this week

Visit the Curiosity Cabin at the top of the car park and explore our range of family activities and trails to guide you around the House and grounds (10am – 5pm)

Play a game of Giant Chess on the Bothy Lawn (10am – 5pm)

Visit the Walled Garden and try your hand at hula-hooping, dominoes and skittles with our Outdoor Lawn Games (10am – 5pm)

See the new Useful/Beautiful: Why Craft Matters exhibition on the State Floor and Below Stairs of the House (11am – 4pm )

Take a trip to the Courtyard to play with the Hobby Horses, and imagine what life was like when the Courtyard was used as a Stable Block full of horses and carriages (10am – 5pm, free for families to use, not suitable for under 3s)

Try out our Bird Garden Eye Spy – Collect your worksheet from the Information Centre in the Courtyard

Borrow one of our Explore the Great Outdoors Activity Bags for the day, and try your hand at bird watching, bug hunting and leaf identification. (These bags can be collected from Courtyard Information Centre. They are free to borrow, with a £5 refundable deposit, 10am – 5pm)

Useful/Beautiful: Family Trail and Family Baskets free to collect from the Entrance Hall of the State Floor, and the Curiosity Cabin (11am – 4pm)
