Rob Oldfield is an artist, educator, and curator, with nearly forty years of sign making experience. Currently senior Fine Art Technician at York St John University, he also works as Technician and Art Handler at various museums and galleries including the National Railway Museum and York Art Gallery. His interest in period design and classical methods led him to work in a number of museums and historic interiors. The importance of gilding as part of this work has created a desire to pass on his knowledge so that it does not become yet another ‘forgotten art’ in an increasingly digital world.
