Tuesday 3 July – Tuesday 4 September 2018
This activity takes place every Tuesday until 4th September.
Join our Farm Team in the Walled Garden this summer and meet our new family of chickens. Visit our hen coops and meet the four different varieties of chickens in the garden: Lincolnshire Buff, Light Sussex, Brown Leghorn and Partridge Wyandotte, and have the chance to open up the nest boxes to check if there are any eggs inside for you to collect.
There is no need to book. This is a free activity which is included within your Grounds and Gardens Ticket.
Make your way to the chicken coops in the Walled Garden for 1pm where you will meet our Farm Team running this activity.
Seeds of Hope is our brand new immersive exhibition based in the Walled Garden and Bothy, created in collaboration with Lord Whitney, a creative studio based in Leeds.
Explore life at Harewood in 1918 through the eyes of the gardeners who lived and worked in The Bothy and the Walled Garden, and step back in time to a war time garden complete with heritage fruit, vegetables and flowers as well as heritage goats and chickens. The exhibition will commemorate the experiences of those who worked on the estate 100 years ago, exploring themes of self-sufficiency, resilience, healing and hope.
