11am – 4pm
Join us for this festive printmaking workshop and learn to make your own lino printed Christmas cards. Ruth & Sarah from Folded Forest will guide you through the process of creating and developing your image, carving your design into the block using specialist cutting tools, inking up your plate and printing using traditional hand printing techniques.
With plenty of time for experimentation, lots of examples to look at and the support & guidance of two experienced printmakers you will create a unique set of printed cards to share with family and friends. Lino is a really versatile process and, once cut, your block can also be used to print onto tags, gift wrap and specialist printmaking papers, some of which will be available to experiment with on the day.
You will take home a set of hand printed cards and your original lino block to continue printing with at home if you wish. You will be provided with your own set of cutting tools to work with during the workshop, and these will be yours to take home with you at the end of the day.
No previous experience of printmaking is necessary. You may bring ideas or images to work with or just be inspired by our range of examples on the day. Please bring an apron to protect your clothes.
Please make your way to the entrance to the Courtyard on arrival at Harewood, where a member of staff will be there to greet you.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided on the day. Please notify us upon booking of any dietary requirements you may have.
Folded Forest is the work of Ruth Viqueira and Sarah Peel. Together they design and make a range of limited edition prints & homewares, all screenprinted by hand in their small studio in Harden, West Yorkshire.
They draw their inspiration from the natural world around them, printing their collection of creatures onto linen, paper & wood. You can find their work exhibited at shops and galleries across the UK and they have over 30 years of printmaking experience between them.
