What’s on this week:

+   MONDAY: What’s for lunch? Bird Garden Activity Sheet

+   TUESDAY: Bird Garden Takeover #ClosedbutstillCaring

+   WEDNESDAY: Staying Creative with Juli Bolaños-Durman

+   THURSDAY: Make your own Harewood House Activity Sheet

+   FRIDAY: Live Q&A at with Jim Parkyn & Bird Keeper Abby

+   SUNDAY: The Pecking Order – Time to play!

MONDAY: What's for lunch?

Can you work out what some of our favourite feathered friends have for lunch? Download the worksheet and see if you can match up each bird to their very own lunch bowl.

When you think you have finished, you can check the answers sheet which is available in the Downloads section (but no peeking before you have finished!)

TUESDAY: Bird Garden Takeover

Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages every Tuesday, when our Bird Garden team report straight from the Bird Garden, where they continue to work tirelessly to care for our Bird collection during this difficult time.

Don’t forget to keep collecting your card to play The Pecking Order. Click here to download all the cards that are available so far. There are 56 to collect in total!

WEDNESDAY: Staying Creative with Juli Bolaños-Durman

Last year, Juli took part in the inaugural Harewood Biennial – Useful/Beautiful: Why Craft Matters. We’ve been in touch to see what she’s been up to doing lockdown, and are delighted to share with you some of the beautiful resources she has created to help us all stay creative during lockdown. Download and print out, and let your creative juices flow.

Juli has also created an extra special resource especially for Harewood, featuring some of our favourite feathered and four-legged  friends from the Harewood Bird Garden and Farm!

Read more about what Juli has been doing during lockdown in her recent blogpost.

THURSDAY: Make your own Harewood House

Using this downloadable worksheet, you can make your very own paper Harewood House, complete with Terrace garden! Cut out all the pieces and stick them together to make your own House inspired by Charles Barry’s 1843 drawings.

FRIDAY: Live Q&A at with Jim Parkyn & Bird Keeper Abby

We are going live on Instagram at 11am this Friday, for a very special Q&A with Jim Parkyn and our Bird Keeper, Abby. After the wonderful series of Aardman Animations model making workshops Jim ran with us during last year’s Make It Harewood, we are delighted that he is ‘virtually’ returning to join us for some more model making fun!

Join us for our live Q&A, as Jim learns more about our Humboldt penguins, watches them have a spot of lunch, and prepares for a very special model making class….

SATURDAY: Make your own Penguin Model making with Jim Parkyn

A very exciting treat for the end of the week, Jim Parkyn will be running an extra special model making session, where you can learn how to make your very own Humboldt penguin.

This weekend, we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Bird Garden. Whilst we are not able to hold the large birthday event we had planned, we are celebrating online across the weekend. Why not join in the celebrations, and learn with Jim to make your own Harewood penguin.

Keep an eye across our social media platforms to watch the video as soon as it is live.

SUNDAY: The Pecking Order - Time to play!

To complete our half term week, and Bird Garden celebrations, we are now at the end of our release of The Pecking Order. You should now have collected all 56 of your cards, and it is time to play!

Don’t forget, all the cards can be downloaded here. Here is a reminder of how to play…
