Opening in Tier 3

The government has announced Leeds as a Tier 3 area, along with updated guidance on what restrictions are in place for each of the tiers.

It is with regret that Harewood will not be able to open its doors to the festively-decorated State Floor for the festive season.

The rest of Harewood’s site outdoors, beautifully lit and festively decorated, will be open.

From Thursday 3 December, the Bird Garden will have re-opened, as well as a the Courtyard Shop and Harewood’s new Christmas Shop on the Terrace. Our opening hours are also extended until to 6pm to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy Harewood safely.

Harewood’s Grounds are beautifully festive in themselves – there is masses to explore and enjoy. As well as a beautiful trip out in wonderful surroundings, you can:

  • Visit the Bird Garden until 3pm daily
  • Take in the magical Harewood Terrace, beautifully decorated and lit for Christmas whilst you enjoy takeaway food and drink from the Terrace Café, and then discover the Christmas Shop (Below Stairs) in the House
  • Walk around the Lakeside Path, newly lit with festive festoon, where you can enjoy a cosy Hot Chocolate and toast marshmallows at the new Bothy Teahouse
  • Grab a drink from the Festive Hideaway and a Christmas Craft Wreath Bag (suggested donation £3) and go on a wintery family trail foraging items to create a beautiful wreath for your home.
  • Discover unique gifts, hand-printed cards, artisans food and drink, and charming Christmas decorations in our Christmas House Shop and Courtyard Shop
  • Wander our Grounds, enjoy the Adventure Playground and take in Capability Brown views of the glorious Yorkshire countryside.

Sadly, the following activities have been cancelled: Harewood Lates, Harewood Member Twilight Evenings, Festive Afternoon Tea and all remaining Workshops.

If you had booked a day visit for the festive season, please bear with us whilst we put in place necessary arrangements to facilitate your options or alternatives.

In order that our staff can benefit from the government’s Christmas plans and enjoy their only opportunity to see family, we have decided to close Harewood on Sunday 27 December.

Thank you to all our Members and visitors for your continued support and enthusiasm for all we are trying to do at this difficult time. The whole team here at Yorkshire’s Large Visitor Attraction of the Year are determined to do what we can to make your visit as memorable and enjoyable as possible.
