Ever wanted to find out more about the Lascelles Family and Harewood’s amazing collections, now is your chance. Based within our Learning Department, our Community Outreach Team are excited to share Harewood’s stories with our wider community.
If you would like us to come and deliver one of our talks to your group we currently are able to provide speakers who can deliver the following;
Harewood a history
Step back in time to the medieval days, we will discuss the origins of Harewood, the transition from a castle to a manor house and then the creation of Harewood House. This talk includes how the Lascelles family became one of the richest families in England and how the House and collection have changed from the 18th to the 21st century.
Highlights of the Harewood House collection
Discover the unique collection of objects, art, furniture and decoration acquired by the Lascelles family and displayed at Harewood House. From the fabulous Chippendale collection, Joshua Reynolds portraits and Jacob Epstein sculptures, Harewood has a fascinating collection.
Women of Harewood
Scandal, female empowerment, domestic goddess and the Women’s Institute! History is frequently focussed on men, but over the years Harewood has been home to a number of strong women who have made an impact on its history. Here we will look at Lady Worsley, Louisa the 3rd Countess and HRH Princess Mary, our 6th Countess.
An evening with Molly Kelly
Molly is the house butler at Harewood House and was the first woman to serve in this role in one of the great Treasure Houses of England. She will talk about her work and about the people she has met and the joys and sadness she has encountered over her thirty years at Harewood.
Talks begin from £80 per session and are delivered either as a PowerPoint and talk or as a talk with discussion time at the end. Talks may also be tailored to suit the interests of the group.
Dependent of your location, travel costs may be applicable.
