‘We had a wonderful day that far exceeded our expectations. The workshop was excellent – the children were engaged throughout and thoroughly enjoyed every minute.’

Teacher, St Paul’s Primary School, Leeds

Our primary sessions at Harewood extend to all areas of the site including the House, Bird Garden and Grounds and Gardens.

We offer tours and hands-on workshops, covering topics across the curriculum and connecting with our three main areas – The House, Gardens and Bird Collection.  We also have special sessions for schools which accompany our exhibitions programme or celebrate special events or times of the year.

For details of the different sessions we offer in our grounds and gardens, from den-building to plant hunting, visit Gardens.

Our tours in the Bird Garden cover topics from adaptation and habitats, to ‘Meet the Penguins’ and are delivered by our bird keeping team.

Our House tours range from topics such as ‘Homes Long Ago’ to Harewood during the wars, led by our expert house guides.

Our summer exhibition ‘Useful/Beautiful: Why Craft Matters’ comprises twenty six makers exhibiting contemporary craft, from textiles to glass, graphic design, ceramics and more.  This is a wonderful opportunity to put creativity back into learning, to learn new skills and to take pleasure in materials and making.

We have some fabulous new workshops, working with artists which puts craft back into the hands and hearts of children.  Click here for more information on our seasonal programme.

If there is something that you would like to cover that you cannot find here, please let us know as we are always happy to discuss your ideas.
