Hall Chairs

Date: late 1700s

Location: Entrance Hall

Although not listed in Chippendale’s bill, the chairs are so inextricably linked to the decoration of the Entrance Hall that they must have been made for that room. A number of motifs used in the architecture are used, with subtle variations, in the chairs. For instance the Greek key pattern at the base of the back splat, and the ribbon and swags on the chair back.
