We love involving volunteers in the work we do and we want to give opportunities to as wide a range of people as possible. Volunteers bring a wealth of experience and get involved for many different reasons; including a love of heritage and gardens, to gain employability skills, and for social contact. We welcome everyone and hope to be able to support volunteers in their aims as much as they support us in ours.

We currently involve over 200 volunteers in diverse roles across the charity, from meeting and greeting our visitors, preparing food for our Birds, weeding in our Gardens,  driving our shuttle bus or running our second hand bookshop.   You can see details of all our roles on the link below.

Some of our roles are not available at the moment due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Seasonal Christmas volunteer vacancies

Would you like to help us with our festive Christmas experience, Upon a Christmas Wish between 13 November and 3 January 2021. Your role will be to assist with visitor flow, ensure our visitors maintain social distancing and be on hand to offer any necessary help.

No previous experience of heritage or volunteering is required; an interest in history and an enthusiasm to help visitor’s imagination is what we are looking for!

Morning and afternoon shifts are available everyday but we would especially welcome help with our Harewood late evening openings on a Wednesday and Thursday and when Father Christmas is in residence! A great opportunity for one or two friends to do something fun and worthwhile together.

If you would like to find out more, we will be holding a Welcome Afternoon on Wednesday 28 October. To register an interest in the Welcome Afternoon please email volunteer@harewood.com . Pre-booking is essential.  This event may take place on Zoom – we will let you know nearer the time.

How do I apply?

To apply to be a Harewood volunteer, simply read the role description that appeals to you where there are vacancies and complete the Volunteer Application Form which can be downloaded from the right hand side of this page.

If you have any specialist skills you would be willing to offer us, please get in touch with volunteer@harewood.org

We particularly encourage applications from black people and people of colour who are currently under-represented within Harewood House Trust.
