Festive Musical Performances

Saturday 25 November – Saturday 23 December 2017

Over the festive period, we have a range of live musical performances taking place on selected dates in both the House and the Courtyard. From Opera North to local schools, our performances are sure to get our visitors into the festive spirit!

In the House, performers will fill the State Floor with the sound of music as visitors explore the rooms, and in the Courtyard, visitors will be entertained whilst they enjoy a spot of lunch in the cafe or shopping in the gift shop.

Saturday 25th November - Leeds Central Band of The Salvation Army

1pm – 1.45pm in the Gallery & 2.45pm – 3.30pm in the Courtyard

Based at The Salvation Army’s Leeds Central Hall, the 25 serving members are committed to spreading the Christian gospel through the medium of the brass band.

A wide variety of occupations are represented, including teachers, retirees and managers, not to mention students that are studying at the local universities.

The band has a busy programme of concerts and festivals, and television credits also include Emmerdale, A Touch of Frost and Songs of Praise.

Sunday 26th November - The Grammar School at Leeds Junior & Senior Chamber Choirs

12pm – 12.30pm in the Gallery & 2pm – 2.30pm in the Courtyard

The Junior Chamber Choir has recently newly formed and will be enjoying their first outing together at Harewood. They are a group of 12 and 13 year olds, and are joined by the Senior Chamber Choir, a choir made up from pupils aged 15-18. The choirs will entertain visitors with a number of well-known Christmas Carols to put you in the festive spirit!

Sunday 3rd December - Harrogate Choral Society

1pm – 1.45pm in the Gallery & 2.15pm – 3pm in the Courtyard

The Harrogate Choral Society, approaching its 75th anniversary next year, is a group of some 130 members and performs works ranging from the classical to the contemporary.

The choir has sung in many venues and has appeared with world-famous performers such as Alfie Boe, but its home venue is Harrogate’s beautiful Royal Hall.

Saturday 9th December - Crawshaw Academy Choir

12pm – 12.30pm in the Gallery & 2pm – 2.30pm in the Courtyard

Sunday 10th December - Harewood C of E Primary School Choir

11.30am – 12pm in the Gallery

Monday 11th December - Gateways School Choir

1pm – 1.30pm in the Courtyard

Gateways School has a strong tradition of singing and this is reflected in the high school choir which has over 50 singers. The choir enjoy singing all repertoire.

Saturday 16th December - Opera North Choristers

12pm – 12.20pm in the Gallery, 1pm – 1.20pm in the Entrance Hall & 2pm – 2.20pm in the Courtyard

Sunday 17th December - Opera North Choristers

12pm – 12.20pm in the Gallery, 1pm – 1.20pm in the Entrance Hall & 2pm – 2.20pm in the Courtyard

Saturday 23rd December - Alan Cuckston Singers

2pm – 2.45pm in the Gallery

The Alan Cuckston Singers come from all walks of life and from various parts of Yorkshire. They enjoy singing a wide variety of repertoire by composers from the Middle Ages to the present day. The Singers rehearse in the Chapel at St. James’ Hospital.
