See the spectacular State Floor decorated for the festive period, and explore the hustle and bustle of servants’ life Below Stairs, preparing for the busyness of the Christmas events ahead. You and your class can visit the house which will be beautifully dressed by Michael Howells, award winning Set Designer from ITV’s Victoria series, which used Harewood House as a major location. Discover more about the Christmas traditions that were shaped during the Victorian period, with Christmas Dinner, Boxing Day, Christmas carols and present giving.
The gardens and Bird Garden will also be open as normal, for you and your class to explore as part of your trip.
You and your class can step back in time and discover the magic of a Victorian Christmas. See the excitement of preparations Below Stairs, and beautiful decorations on the State Floor as the House is dressed for Christmas. Sing traditional carols in the Church, and get crafty and make your own Christmas cards, and learn all about the traditions of a Victorian Christmas.
