Harewood is a great Yorkshire family day out! You’ll find all sorts of activities here for family fun – the big problem will be trying to fit it all into one day! Whatever day of the week, during term time or school holidays, there is plenty to do here, for children of all ages and for adults too.

There’s the Bird Garden - over 90 species of rare and exotic birds from all over the world, including our ever-popular penguins, flamingos and parrots. The penguins are fed every day at 2pm.

There’s the Adventure Playground: slides, swings and much, much more, with different areas for different age groups, while the adults sit back and enjoy the view.
 
There’s also the The Geopods: A new interactive indoor play area for children.

And in Harewood House, you can learn about history and have fun while you’re doing it.  Dress up in servants’ clothes from the dressing up box and step back to Victorian times or discover the hidden delights behind the cupboard doors Below Stairs.

School holiday activities

Throughout the school holidays we provide craft activities for families: making African drums and masks, or creating your own penguin badges and door hangers. Most of the activities in the House are themed around the theme of the current exhibition.
